Voznyuk Vasiliy Vasilyevich is a Zhytomyr cartoonist and he is famous far beyond Ukraine. Born on July 3, 1958 in the family of a serviceman in Uzbekistan. Urgently served in the border troops on the western border. Since 1976 he lives in the city of Zhitomir. He began painting in Afghanistan in 1986, while in hospital after being wounded. From 1988 he works as an artist for various press and he illustrates books.
Cooperates with the Ukraine of Industry and World of Zvyazku and Informatics magazines.
Since 2000 he takes part in international competitions. In 2001, he won the Grand Prix in Paris in the Press and Power, the Ukrainian-French political cartoon competition. In 2002, he won 3rd prize at the Moscow Open Cartoon Festival. 5 years in a row he won in the Business in Ukraine annual contest. In 2003, he received an offer from Belgium to illustrate the book about pregnancy (a charitable project under the patronage of the Belgian King Albert II).
Then he worked on the next following project called The history of contraceptives. His name was included in two encyclopedias of modern cartoons. Vasily Voznyuk is the only cartoonist artist from Ukraine who draws for the royal families of Europe. He completed a gift portrait of the Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and received a thank-you letter from her. The Americans asked him to make a duplicate of this drawing.
A permanent exhibition of the artist’s book graphics entitled My Borderlands was opened in 2005 in the capital’s museum of the State Border Service of Ukraine. 4 years in a row he participated in the Japanese cartoon competition held by the Iamiuri Tokyo newspaper. He is a laureate and a prize-winner of many international exhibitions and cartoon contests. He received a diploma from an international contest in South Korea, where he won 5th prize, and an invitation to take part in local competitions from Colombia and London.
