Cartoonist, graphic artist, illustrator, painter

Born on April,17, 1907 in a small town of Zingst on the Baltic sea. In his youth from 14 to 21 worked as a can boy. Also at this age started to draw and paint. In 1928 entered Berlin Academy of Arts and since 1931 worked with major publishers. Cooperated with many magazines, i.e. “Eulenspiegel”, “Frischen Wind” etc. Published his most famous watercolor drawings in a book “Klamanns Puppentheater”.

Was a member of the GDR Journalists’ Union and a member of the Union of artists-mentors. Was awarded with many prizes.

Died in 1984 in Zingst.
