She was born on December 15, 1949 in Chebarkul, Chelyabinsk region.
She spent her childhood and youth years in the village of St. George, Stavropol region.
She was engaged in music, drawing, artistic gymnastics.
After graduating from the music and pedagogical school she began to work as a music teacher in a kindergarten.
In 1972, she started to study at the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute, Faculty of Defectology.
After graduation she worked as a tutor in schools for a deaf and hearing impaired children.
For many years she combined her pedagogical work with the humorous creative work in the Krokodil (Crocodile) magazine and other periodicals of Russia and the Union republics.
For some time her works were published under the pseudonym R. Tsvetkova.
