Has no art education, but he is one of the most popular cartoonists in Cuba.
His main themes are satire on colonialism, arms race and environmental pollution.
His drawings were published in Palante, DDT and Opina.
Since 1972, Ahubel works in the Melaito magazine, where he was the main artist for a couple of years. Besides that he works for the television and the newsreel department of the Cuban Institute of Cinematography.
He held a two solo cartoon exhibitions and participated in a number of group exhibitions.
He won a several prizes at the Horacio Rodriguez Suria, the National Humor Salon.
He received many awards in a cartoon contests in the country and abroad.
