Manuel Hernandes


He was born in 1943 in Matanzas.
He studied at the School of Fine Arts “Martirez de Bolivia”, was carried away by a caricature. in 1967, when he was awarded the first prize of the competition of amateur cartoonists, organized by the magazine Palante.
Soon after that, he became a full-time artist, El Sablé, a weekly humorous application of the newspaper Juventud Rebelde.
The first award was followed by many others: at almost all competitions of the National Salon of Humor “Oracio Rodriguez Suria” Manuel was awarded with prizes. Eight times he received the prize “Eduardo Abela” for the best series of drawings.
In 1979, Manuel was awarded the first prize of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and a prize of the Ministry of Culture at the First International Biennale of Humor in San Antonio delos Baños.
Manuel is the permanent author of the magazine “DDT”.
